Koshi-Tappu Wildlife Reserve

 

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is located in Eastern Nepal (Saptari and Sunsari districts), stablished in 1976, is 175 square kilometers of wildlife refuge and wetlands habitat. It covers the vast expanse Koshi River with its blue waters and lush jungle areas on both sides. The reserve is home to the water buffalo (called arna), deer, nilgai, mugger crocodile, Ganges River Dolphin (also called the Gangetic Dolphin), and over 280 species of birds. The vegetation of this area is mainly tall khar-pater grassland with a few patches of Khair-sissoo scrub forest and deciduous mixed river line jungle.

 

Itinerary :      3 night 4 day Package Program :
Day 1 :  Hotel Arrival (Pickup by hotel staff from Biratnagar Airport).
  Welcome drinks, Freshen up and Briefing sesson.
  Lunch.
  Bird Watching in the near by surroundings of Park.
  Dinner.
Day 2 : Morning nature walks within near vicinity.
  Breakfast.
  Raft boat on the Sapta Koshi River with Naturalist to see Water birds, Water buffaloes, Dolphins & varioius water habitats.
  Picnic Lunch.
  Short drive to the Koshi Barrage.
   Dinner
 Day 3 : Morning nature walks within near vicinity.
  Breakfast.
   Birding all along the dam of the Koshi River.
   Picnic Lunch at the Pink Tower.
   Dinner
 Day 4 : More bird watching into the jungle near by.
   Breakfast.

Price for the Trip :

The cost for the trek or tour will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you choose in Kathmandu and/or another destination will make a difference to the overall costing (budget to 5 star accommodation). The mode of transportation you prefer is the another factor which affects the cost of your package, for example prices change significantly between flight versus private car/van, tourist/local bus. The number of guides and/or porters required will also affect the total cost of your trek. From above reason the same trek/tour can vary in price quite substantially.
